The Massage Therapy instruction includes the following:

Specialized Massage Techniques
Massage therapy has a range of applications and treatment goals: muscular and general relaxation, stress reduction, pain management, and recovery from injury, health promotion and body awareness.
Massage classes are taught in the format of lectures, demonstrations, and practice. Students are given a strong foundation in the theory of each technique along with hands on skills. Students are required to complete a minimum of 50 massages during their 600 hours training.

Swedish Massage- is based on the western concepts of anatomy and physiology and employs the traditional manipulative techniques that can be slow and gentle, vigorous or bracing, according to the results the therapists wishes to achieve.

Connective Tissue Massage- is directed toward the subcutaneous connective tissue and is believed to affect vascular and visceral reflexes related to a variety of disabilities.

IMG 9381small Neuromuscular Therapy- uses pressure applied to trigger points in the muscles allowing them to relax. Closely related to oriental acupressure.

Shiatsu- is like acupuncture without needles. The purpose of shiatsu is to increase circulation and restore energy balances in the body. It is also an aid in soothing the nervous system and is said to be particularly effective in relieving headache, fatigue, insomnia, nervous tension, and sore stiff muscles.

Polarity Therapy- is a method of using massage manipulations derived from both Eastern and Western practices. Exercises and thinking practices are included to balance the body both physically and energetically.

Reflexology- originated with the Chinese and is based on the idea that stimulation to particular areas in the feet and hands has effect in other areas or organs of the body.

Chair Massage- is a growing, highly visible branch of professional massage. It is a way of introducing people who ordinarily might not consider benefits of skilled touch.

Sports Massage- is a method of massage designed to prepare an athlete for an upcoming event or recover from injury. It is achieved through specialized manipulations that stimulate circulation of blood and lymph.

Hydrotherapy- is the application of water in any of its three forms (solid, liquid or vapor) to the body for therapeutic purposes. When properly used with body massage, hydrotherapy is an additional aid to the healthy functioning body.

This program is designed to prepare students to become Licensed Therapeutic Massage Therapist. You will be provided the skills necessary in academic and clinic experience to be on your way to career as a Massage Therapist and to apply for and take the National Certification Examination
